This is a brand *spankin* new feature over here at Books With Cass.
It can get fun, it can get crazy, it can get.. interesting.
This is a feature in which we take a male and a female from some of our favorite reads, and pair them with each other. The interesting part is we're pairing them with other characters from other books. Then we're going to discuss it! Sound simple enough? Let's do this!
Lola, from Lola and the Boy Next Door.. now if you haven't read this, you may not be aware of her eccentric fashion sense and florescent colored wigs. You may also not be aware of the fact that she is righteously independent in every sense of the word. But the girl has heart, and she isn't afraid to show it.
“I don't believe in fashion. I believe in costume. Life is too short to be the same person every day.” -Lola
Alex, from the Delirium Trilogy [swooooon] is a rebel in his own right. He does not like what the government has decided, and he is not going to abide by it. I believe his love for Lena is partially due to the fact that she is so innocent and hasn't experienced life in The Wilds. Oh, he also loves poetry! And he has a love for nature as well. So..
“Hate isn’t the most dangerous thing, he’d said. Indifference is.” -AlexCould Alex and Lola work? Could Alex handle Lola's independence and style? Could Lola handle Alex's rebellious streak against what the government states is the right thing to do? Or would it all be too much?
My opinion?
I think it may be a nice little fling for these two. But after a while their arguments over what matters would drive them apart. Lola is more a foot loose and fancy free kinda gal, and Alex is a bit more serious. He's all about love and everything, but when it comes time to get serious, he needs the kind of girl that he may not think Lola is. And Lola, she may want someone who is more adventurous in other ways. Not like, defying actual government regulations kinda ways.
What do you think? Have you read both these books? Would Lola and Alex make it?
