Pushing the Limits
Katie McGarry (Goodreads Author)
"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.
"An edgy romance that pulls you in and never lets go. I was hooked!"-Gena Showalter, New York Times bestselling author of the Intertwined series
So wrong for each other...and yet so right.
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible. Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

SYNOPSIS:
Real quick, this book is a story of two main characters Echo
Emerson and Noah Hutchins. Each
character has their own fair share of things going on in their life. Echo is trying to remember exactly what
happened to her on one tragic day, all while dealing with her Sargeant-esque
father and 20-something year old ex-babysitter turned Stepmom. In addition, she is coping with the loss of
her brother, Aires. None of this is
easy, and Echo also has a few secrets that she is keeping, making her title at
school go from popular to the “freak” in less than a moment.
Pair this dilemma with that of Noah (the oh so damn good looking)
Hutchins. Noah is in foster care, has
been from house to house, and had altercations with his previous foster father,
leaving him with a bad reputation through the system. His two brother’s are elsewhere and his
parents are dead. His school life is far
from wonderful, relaying the bad-boy-stoner image. When his clinical social worker (at the
school) suggests tutoring, his whole world is bound to erupt.
From this point on, the story emerges at a fast,
heart-pounding pace. There is not a
moment of dry reading, not even a sentence that goes by that doesn’t leave you
breathless. While Echo and Noah are
absolutely stunningly written as main characters, the supporting characters are
just as witty and well written. Lila,
Mr. Emerson, Beth, Carrie & Joe, they’re all so wonderful and each play an
important role in either Noah or Echo’s lives.
Without giving anything away, I can just tell you that there is a twist
at every corner, and a side of Noah that you didn’t think existed, until it is
revealed to you.
REVIEW:
My oh my. This book
was amazing. As in, above all else, I would put it as top of 2012 thus
far. I was privileged enough to receive my
copy from NetGalley and HarlequinTEEN.
Katie McGarry, I am convinced that anything
you put out I will read. The writing
is impeccable. The story line while
filled with events is not overwhelming, it is in fact; perfection.
Echo and Noah seemed so compatible, and so perfect for each other
that it was almost too good to be true.
This isn’t the stereotypical high school romance either. This book shows you two characters who have
been through HELL. They compliment
each other. Bring out the best in
each other, and love one another for who they can be. While it may sound cliché, McGarry has taken
it upon herself to write the perfect couple.
However, in this story, friends and family really do mean a lot, and we
get to see exactly who is loyal, and who is not, as the story unravels.
All in all, this book was a masterpiece. It is still beyond me how this is Katie
McGarry’s debut novel. But I would not
change a thing. It was amazing. If you do not pick it up on July 31st,
2012 – you are insane. Yup! I said
it! INSANE! Now… go ahead, write it down. It will be worth it, I promise!
This book sounds amazing. I will definitely have to add it to my TBR list.
